Whereas, The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office has reduced its funding to the Student Senate by nearly $70,000 over the past few years;

Whereas, The Student Senate Council represents the nearly 2.9 million California Community College students in the statewide shared governance process;

Whereas, At the Spring 2010 General Assembly the Student Senate President declared a state of fiscal emergency; and

Whereas, The Student Senate Council has continuously attempted to find a sustainable source of funding to continue representing the students of the system;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges create an advisory committee composed of California Community College students who are not currently serving on the Student Senate Council;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Colleges’ advisory committee be charged with the task to raise funds for the Student Senate Council; and,

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges, with the recommendation of the SSCCC President and confirmation of the Student Senate Council, members shall be appointed through a process similar to that of the California Community Colleges’ Board of Governor’s to be determined by the Student Senate Council.
