Whereas, The Constitution Article VII Section 1 reads:
Section 1. Committee Appointments
The President shall make recommendations to the Student Senate Council for appointments to Consultation Council, subcommittees, and other advisory committees or task forces established by the Chancellor’s Office, including other agency/organizations requiring student representation. The students under consideration for any and all appointment shall be secured through an election or application process as established by the President in consultation with the Student Senate. The nominations will then be ratified by a majority vote by the Student Senate Council.
Whereas, The President may choose not to make recommendations to the Student Senate Council;
Whereas, The Board of Governors is the highest level of shared governance and is charged with policy making for the California community colleges but is not listed; and
Whereas, Subcommittees are only referred to for Consultation Council and “and other” only refers to advisory committees or task forces and “by the Student Senate Council” does not clearly state whether it is members present or of the total membership;
Resolved, That the President should not be required to make recommendations;
Resolved, That the Board of Governors be added to the list;
Resolved, “and others” should refer to all subcommittees, advisory committees and/or taskforces; and

The President reserves the right to make recommendations to the Student Senate Council for liaison appointments to the Board of Governors and membership appointments to the Consultation Council, and other subcommittees, advisory committees or task forces established by the Chancellor’s Office, including other agency/organizations requiring student representation. The students under consideration for any and all appointment shall be secured through an election or application process as established by the President in consultation with the Student Senate. The nominations will then be ratified by a plurality vote of the Council Members in attendance.
