Whereas, Students identified by AB540, undocumented students, are not US citizens, therefore counselors send them to international student
counselors;
Whereas, Students identified by AB540 California residents, therefore international student counselors send them to resident student counselors; and
Whereas, The vast majority of counselors are unaware of opportunities available to AB540 students and how to help them achieve their education goals;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges strongly urge campuses to include information in their student handbook regarding undocumented students and the opportunities available to AB540 students; and
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges inform the counselors association(s) of this issue and cooperate with them to inform counselors to be more aware regarding AB 540 students.
