Whereas, the State of California is undergoing a budget crisis and there is not enough money to provide free classes to all students;

Whereas, the students cannot afford their classes and student debt has surpassed one trillion dollars;

Whereas, the first fundamental principle of the California Master Plan of Education is to commit the Sate to provide an effective and accountable education system that focus first and foremost on the learner;

Resolved, the Student Senate for California Community Colleges acknowledges that financial aid in the form of loans are not measures that focus first and foremost on the learner;

Resolved, the Student Senate for California Community Colleges will not endorse legislative bills or administrative decisions that push students towards getting loans; and

Resolved, the Student Senate for California Community Colleges will advocate for full funding from the State government as the most important solution to college affordability.
