Whereas, The freshman drop-out rate is a problem that community colleges statewide are facing;

Whereas, Those freshman with a grade point average of 1.0 and less are the students most likely to drop out;

Whereas, Students who have dropped out of college during their first year have been hard to contact so that administrators can inquire and gather the information necessary to assist incoming students, and freshmen who are currently at risk; and

Whereas, A student must sign onto the Community College website in order to drop a class;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges urge all California Community Colleges’ Technology departments to add a pop-up box questionnaire, to the College website, upon a student’s attempt to drop a class which should simply ask why the student is dropping the class;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges encourage that upon including a pop-up box to the website, that all information gathered should be forwarded for analysis and resolution; and

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges urge all California Community College’s administration and faculty to identify at-risk freshmen and offer necessary services to help prevent drop-outs.
