Committee:
Educational Policies, Sustainability
Whereas, Student transcripts are needlessly delayed in their transport from institution to institution because they are still transported insecurely on paper;

Whereas, Students cannot generally perform electronic academic planning activities, nor populate college applications automatically using a paper-based system;

Whereas, Costs of the paper-based system are high, and usually passed onto transcript requestors, this being the student;

Whereas, The California Community College Technology Division (CCCTD) has developed a protocol and implemented a system-wide intersegment electronic transcript system, currently in use at approximately 1/3 of CCCs and most of California State Universities; and

Whereas, Maximal utility to students and campuses will occur when all California Community College’s, California State University, University of California and K-12 systems are using electronic transcripts in California;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges work with the Chancellor’s Office to extend usage of the existing e-transcript system statewide to all sectors by providing fiscal incentives and technical assistance in setup to campuses not already on e-transcript; and

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges work with the Chancellor’s Office to make e-transcript the standard of transcript delivery for all students.
