Whereas, The role of student government leaders is critical and essential to the collegial consultation process as stated in Education Code 70901(e);

Whereas, Student leaders donate their free time and resources to serve the students of their college and to enhance the community as a whole and commit themselves to their roles equivalent to a full-time, paid position without remuneration of any kind;

Whereas, Students who graduate with honors receive recognition on their transcripts, and this type of recognition would acknowledge the significant contributions made by student leaders and would support transfer endeavors as indicated in the California Community Colleges Student
Equity Plan; and

Whereas, Employers review college transcripts to determine a candidate’s qualifications and education during the hiring processes;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges work with the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges and all local student governments to encourage administrators and the appropriate bodies to implement a process that will recognize student government members on their transcripts.
