Whereas, Former and current foster youth in California are placed in situations out of their control, which may then pose a significant barrier to their well being;
Whereas, Out of state tuition charges are a significant financial barrier for some former foster youth attending a California community college;
Whereas, Attending a community college improves a former or current foster youth’s life; and
Whereas, The mission of the Student Senate for California Community Colleges is to promote student access and success;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges advocate for all foster youth attending a community college in California be charged the in-state tuition rate;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges advocate for all foster youth to receive priority enrollment; and
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges advocate for all former and current foster youth to receive a fee waiver.

Completed. The SSCCC supported legislation to achieve this and the legislation was signed into law by the Governor.
