Whereas, The California Community Colleges system is the largest public education system in the world educating approximately 2.6 million students in the 2011-2012 year, playing a pivotal role in preparing students to transfer to the California State University and University of California systems, training nurses, firefighters, police, and other vocational professions

Whereas, The system awarded 151,997 degrees and certificates in the 2011- 2012 academic year;

Whereas, Between 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 the system took a significant reduction of its allocation from the State of California resulting in a loss of nearly 100,000 FTES; and

Whereas, Postsecondary education particularly at the community college level is essential to the recovery of the economies of both the state and the nation and that being the cornerstone to the increase in tax revenue;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges work within the California Legislature to restore FTES for the California
Community Colleges to the levels of the 2010-2011 academic year.
