WHEREAS, institutional support for Associated Student Organizations is necessary in order to effectively and efficiently operate when student leaders have a higher turnover rate than administrators and faculty which causes volatile participation in student representation and advocacy consistency;
WHEREAS, some advisors have a multitude of responsibilities and job duties that do not fall directly under the jurisdiction of an ASO, thus not providing adequate support and resources for an ASO to succeed; and
WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to provide student leaders with a support system that focuses an overwhelming majority if not 100% on the success of their ASO in order to ensure a student voice is being heard; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, the Student Senate for California Community College will advocate for legislation or policy/regulation that requires there be a full-time faculty advisor for Associated Student Organizations; and
RESOLVED, this will be a very high priority for the Student Senate for California Community College and that the SSCCC will make sure to advocate for local ASOs to be a part of the decision-making process that decides who the full time faculty advisor is.
