Whereas, The education and well-being of our students is our primary goal;
Whereas, According to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences the United States is the only wealthy, industrialized nation that does not have a universal health care system; and
Whereas Many students are deprived of their right to education because of sickness and/or financial reasons; that should not be a deciding factor to whether they can continue their education;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges advocate for a basic level of health-services for all students that is independent of their ability to pay; and
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges gather signatures, letters, or other support for passage of a public health plan similar to Medicare at the Federal and state level.
