Whereas, The Student Senate for California Community Colleges acknowledges and values the rights granted to students by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution;

Whereas, Many California Community College campuses have failed to affirm these rights by limiting expression in various forms to free speech zones or restricted areas;

Whereas, The protections guaranteed by the United States Constitution under the First Amendment are of a national matter where each human being is entitled Free Speech protections; and

Whereas, Supreme Court rulings such as Khademi v. South Orange County Community College District have affirmed that these rights are in the best American character and should be valued by faculty, administration, classified staff and students;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges advocate and insist that First Amendment rights are not infringed upon at any community college in California;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges urge that each California community college (district) adopt a time, place, and manner policy which reflects the values of the U.S Constitution; and

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges admonish acts of suppressing First Amendment rights on any California community college campus.
