Whereas, Athletics in California community colleges lack diversity in terms of accommodation for athletes with disabilities, and modified athletics have gained international Olympic notoriety;
Whereas, Athletes with disabilities are not offered scholarships for achievements in sports at the community college level; and
Whereas, Students with disabilities have too few opportunities for athletic competition, and those opportunities are limited to intramural sports at a small number of institutions;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges urge community college administrators, faculty and staff to create methods of recognizing disabled athletes at individual colleges; and
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges urge local foundations to create scholarships for disabled athletes.
