Whereas, Throughout her 25 year career with the Chancellor’s Office, Linda has been an advocate for the system’s colleges and students in both state and federal legislative policy, raising the national profile of the California Community College system. Her leadership was instrumental in the development and implementation of “The Way California Works” and the “I Can Afford College” campaigns, as well as many other successful educational projects.
Whereas, Linda Michalowski, the Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Special Programs for the California Community College System, is responsible for policy and programs including admissions, assessment, orientation, financial aid, counseling, and other support services designed to assist students in completing their educational goals.
Whereas, Vice Chancellor Michalowski has been a staunch supporter of conscious, progressive student engagement in the governance of California’s community college system; She has led the Chancellor’s Office work on recent major initiatives including community college participation in the Early Assessment Program implementation of the SB 1440 transfer guarantee to the CSU, and increased support for student mental health services.
Whereas, While the California Community College Chancellor’s Office appoints a liaison to the Student Senate for California Community Colleges, Linda Michalowski has made incredible efforts to participate and reach out to the Student Senate Council. She always provides a wealth of knowledge and great recommendations to help lead the Student Senate council.
Resolved, the Student Senate for California Community Colleges recognizes Vice Chancellor Linda Michalowski for her substantial, meaningful contributions to student leadership in the community college system.
