Whereas, Many community colleges are struggling with their retention rates;

Whereas, Lack of information contributes to student failure;

Whereas, Student orientation is an effective way to disseminate proper and effective paths to counseling, core requirements, financial aid and any other significant student related information; and

Whereas, Studies have shown college funding and success is directly affected by the retention rate;

Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges advocate that local and state legislative bodies enact policies that require California Community Colleges to offer orientation for new, returning and reentry students for one day.
