Sustainability Advisory, Relations with Local Senates
Whereas, Trees are the lungs of our planet – they are an important part of our earth‟s ecosystem, necessary for removing carbon dioxide and returning precious clean oxygen to our atmosphere;
Whereas, The cost of paper has gone up substantially – many community college student governments are operating with very limited budgets and this has also manifested itself in school governments running out of paper; and
Whereas, All the paper that is generated in our student governments is time consuming to file and difficult to keep track of;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges urge local senates to use electronic advertising for events and
dissemination of information about campus programs and clubs as much as possible;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges urge local senates to use creative and innovative advertising, which does not involve non-recycled paper, such as using recycled pencils or bookmarks instead of virgin materials;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges use, as available: projection systems, double sided printing, and the
reusing of one sided paper when printing agendas and urge local senates to do the same; and
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges urge local senates to use netbooks and laptops as much as possible for all student government officers to communicate more efficiently and productively.
