Whereas, More than $769 million has been cut from California Community Colleges over the past three years;
Whereas, California State Assembly Bill 2591 (AB 2591) from the 2011-2012 Regular Session will create an automatic backfill funding mechanism for California Community Colleges in the event that property tax and fee revenues fall below the expected amount in the annual budget act;
Whereas, The backfill guarantee for California Community Colleges will reduce funding uncertainty and assist in the prevention of mid-year cuts; and
Whereas, AB 2591 would provide California Community Colleges with a similar backfill guarantee that K-12 districts already possess;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges support Assembly Bill 2591.
