Whereas, the California Educational System is in need of more funding;
Whereas, California State is the only major oil extracting state in the country that does not tax Oil Companies;
Whereas, the California Modernization and Economic Development Act proposes the implementation of a 9.5% tax on Oil Companies for extracting oil in Californian soil;
Whereas, the CMED Act would generate approximately 2 billion dollars for California’s Public Education;
Resolved, that Student Senate for California Community Colleges will support and advocate for the CMED Act in the State Legislature; and
Resolved, that Student Senate for California Community Colleges members will support and advocate for the CMED Act at their local campuses.
