Whereas, The Student Senate for California Community Colleges represents all students within the largest system of higher education in the world;
Whereas, The Student Senate for California Community Colleges is an organization which lacks the continuous and reliable financial resources necessary to provide ongoing and consistent representation of its constituency;
Whereas, The future is predicted to be difficult for California community college (CCC) students with a forecasted continuation of, and potential increase in, budgetary cuts; and
Whereas, Representation and advocacy are vital to the students of the CCC system, both during and after these trying economic times;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges work with its regional members to encourage local senates to include an annual line item for donations to the SSCCC to make certain its continued operation; and
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges work with its constituents to ensure that students have a voice in shared governance and advocacy and that we all work together in unity to ensure that public education does not become a service reserved only for the few.
