Whereas, Textbooks are the single highest costs for students, surpassing registration fees;
Whereas, Many community college students are forced to pay exorbitant prices for textbooks, which causes unnecessary difficulties; and
Whereas, The cost of textbooks may deter some students from purchasing the needed materials for their courses resulting in inefficiencies, such as lower grades, course withdrawal, and limiting overall access and student success;
Resolved, That the Student Senate for California Community Colleges actively work with its system partners and the legislature to enact policies and/or legislation that reduces the cost of textbooks.
